The Childs Family
On the attached pages, you will find our complete family history, dating back to the 1600's
Our ancestry has been traced back to the 1600's to Richard, the father of Hugh Childs and Mary Hicks, farmers from Courtenay, Berkshire, England. Our family has its roots deeply imbedded in agriculture, a tradition carried on today by several of Hugh's great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandchildren. Courtney, or Sutton Courtenay is is known today, is a small village in the county of Oxfordshire, located in Soutch East England. A second village of interest is Wantage, Berkshire, England, the birthplace of William Childs II and Joseph Childs. Our immediate lineage is traced to dawn township and a small farm house that still sits on the family property, the one time home of Clinton and Mary Childs, the parents of Morris, Ernest, Harold, Evelyn (Eves), Don, Helen (Babcock), Marion (Smith) and Gordon.
